Week 8, Task 18 & 19

How frustrating ... I created a document in Zoho and tried to publish it to my blog. All I got was "error on page". Created a new document and tried it again but same result. What am I doing wrong?

It is more or less like WORD so pretty user-friendly.

Task 19 - Page would not open. Tried several times but same result. will try this task another day.

Week 7 Tasks 15 & 16

With this task I've added my blog name to the list of others and created a wiki entry under favourite books.

I haven't done anything complicated like uploading a picture etc but I get the general idea if I wanted to do it "for real".

I can see this would be a useful tool but the souce of the information is important to consider.

Week 6, Task 14

If libraries are custodians of information then libraries of the future will have no choice but to address the inevitable change in the staff/patron relationship because technology has changed the way we search, employ and display information.

I liked the perspective of Wendy Schultz when she states in her essay ".... libraries are not merely in communities, they are communities". To wear this 'tag', libraries have to meet the needs of patrons both as we know them now as well as looking forward. I suppose 2.0 (and in the future 3.0 etc) will help staff in meeting patrons needs in their search/display of information.

Week 5 Task 10

I've had a look around Image Generators and found the "Create your own fun newspaper" link. See http://www.fodey.com/generators/newspaper/snippet.asp .

Here is what I've come up with.

Week 4 - Tasks 8 & 9

I've posted about 6 feeds on my new blogline account. Two of these are library related blogs.

In the beginning I thought I would be putting the feeds in my blog. But I didn't see anything about that in this task. I've just created the account and added a selection of feeds. Is this right??

By the way, have you heard this one .... "Computers are like air conditioners. They work fine until you start opening up windows".

Thoughts on Technology Task

Technology has become such an organic extention of ourselves that for the most part we no longer give tasks performed a seond thought. Not so long ago, we were in awe of what technology could do for us ... now we grumble if requsted tasks aren't perfomed fast enough.

Working on 2.0 has encouraged me to expand my pretty basic PC skills and I feel a new sense of awe in what technology can do. This week I have been learning about the photo management program Flickr - which in itself is a magic show, mashups and podcasts. I think about how to use them and ... who on earth comes up with these names!

I think mappr looks interesting for tracking a journey. The layout and graphics pull the reader into the geography and give a story a fresh dimension.

I don't know how I'll do with implementing any of them but I sure am impressed about the potential.
